I am always running from this stranger inside of me.

She is Just out of Range.

fire afar

The beautiful color is a bit deceptive. Although it was very striking at the time, the reason for its brilliance was distant fire instigated by the severe drought last summer in West Texas. Thousands of miles of land burned, causing a haze in the air that extended for hundreds of miles. Beautiful as it appeared, it was only the result of much destruction.

"What else should our lives be but a continual series of beginnings, of painful settings out into the unknown, pushing off from the edges of consciousness into the mystery of what we have not yet become, except in dreams that blow in from out there bearing the fragrance of islands we have not yet sighted in our waking hours, as in voyaging sometimes the first blossoming branches of our next landfall come bumping against the keel, even in the dark, whole days before the real land rises to meet us."

Chasms: Mine is the Curse of Expectation.

Via Flickr:
She could sense its vacuum from a distance far beyond the hollow air that rushed in to fill the void across this canyon...
A chasm spanning ten million miles wide, its bowels cut wide open, deeper than the most distant molecule in space...

She could see a distant, almost transparent apparition standing very still and watching her with no expression.., she stood precisely where the sun would set.

All the while, knowing that this far-off stranger was not a stranger at all.

I was She and She was Me, and despite our fate to spend eternity alone, We shared a finite moment within an infinite expanse.

My Last Battle Cry

This Book (of Secrets),
the -real- one
inside of us...
I was born;
despite my fears.
but they gave me this book.
they didn't know that my borrowing these words
would cause such devastation and damage.
You see, insight is sometimes unbearably painful, and if it must, will call upon it's ally - Denial.
What if Denial is dead?
Slaughtered at the battle of Wisdom -
along with Faith
and Courage?
Oh, they fought with such glory!
Such steadfast determination!
each uniquely able to command entire armies.
But . . , occasionally, the enemy simply grows too strong and their defeat becomes an impossibility -
and your forces are
out-numbered,
out-witted, and finally,
out-flanked.
There are always intolerable headaches. clawing & bouncing inside me.
The angry, glaring, des.pair.ing, ones -
The worst one.s of ALL . . .
The most hate-full haters,
the soul-less and
the lost ones.
.always.staring.but.never.seeing.
.they.are.always.the.tremblers.
.the.cold.ones. .Such.a.Sad.Place.they.
.must.cling.to.just.in.case.
.only.to.be.hunted.down.and.defeated.
Victims.of.their.own.Misguidance.
.They.have.been.violated.and.cheated.
.dissonance.breeds.despair. . . !

(...and.despair.permeates.every.molecule.

The atoms are crushed open and all of their most secret secrets are strewn across the lawn until the wind carries them off and all of the hope in their hearts is carried with them until they are gone. The rhythm of the soul beats as one with the rhythm of the heart but when the soul dies in the dark the lyrics are lost. Thus, the mind is forced to break away from its orbit and gently fall apart.

There are words inside her, waiting to be born. She feels them growing, forming, becoming thoughts that might later work themselves into sentences to be spoken aloud.

Now, they are nothing but jagged letters with sharp edged corners poking at her, making her uncomfortable. She can’t seem to put them together in any way that softens them.

She soon realizes they will always be hard and sharp. They will always be hard to get out.

It might be easier to keep them inside, let them remain a struggling mess of letters and sounds that will hurt no one but her.

I was just enjoying my little urban photo shoot when I happened across some protesters and decided to join in for a while so I could take some fascinating photos (it was the first live protest I've ever seen, so I found it quite exiting)! :) (circa september 2011 - near thanksgiving square)

Mind in Flight

"Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the overcompensations for misery. And of course stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand." Aldous Huxley, Brave New World
